Vanishing Species, located in Florida, claims to rescue animals and be educating the public in order to save them in the wild. We have spoken to people who hired Vanishing Species to bring baby big cats to children's birthday parties for a fee. For more money the kids could hold the babies and have their photos made with them. This is NOT a message of conservation.
Even though they may say, "Big cats make bad pets" their actions say, "Do as I say and not as I do." When you parade a wild animal around like it is a pet, that is the message that stays with people. These kinds of exhibitors send a bad message rather than the good one they profess to promote.
If the message is to teach compassion for the animal, respect for their instinctual abilities and to promote conservation of habitat, there are much better ways than reducing the animal to dependence on humans, lives of captivity and deprivation and promoting the notion that these animals can be taken from the wild and made to live in your house.
